My Acne Prone Skincare Routine

As an Acne Skin Specialist one of my top asked questions is always about skincare, and so today I am going to break down my skincare routine for you.

But before we get started you need to know that copying this skincare routine most likely won't give you the best results, for optimal results you need to be prescribed a professional skincare routine from a Skin Specialist suited to your unique skin situation. (See end of post for details)

The first thing you need to do before you do your skincare is wash your hands, obviously your hands carry bacteria, as we are constantly touching things, and therefore its unavoidable.

Surface Radiance Cleanser- Medik8

The cleanse I use every single day is the Surface Radiance Cleanser by Medik8. This is a gel to foam cleanser which means that it comes out of the bottle as a gel consistency, and then with water it turns to a foam. For a thorough cleanse having a foam cleanser can be extremely beneficial as it works deep into the pores to help remove impurities, and also helps with managing sebum levels (oil). You always should pat your skin dry with a clean flannel rather than wiping it dry, as this can act as a further exfoliation.

Press & Clear Toner - Medik8

The toner I use most days, if not all days, is the Press & Clear toner by Medik8. This is a fantastic toner as it includes 2% BHA's which help to dissolve the build up of dead skin cells that reside in your hair follicles, which can lead to acne if not already resembling spots.

Hydr8 B5 Intense Serum - Medik8

This Hyaluronic Acid is fantastic for helping to retain moisture, keeping the skin healthy and hydrated. When you are acne prone, hydration is such a key element in keeping your skin barrier healthy so that you don't get more acne. This is where I see most acne prone/ acne clients fall short on, as a lot of people presume you need to dry out your skin to clear it from acne, which is just not true.

C-Tetra Luxe Serum- Medik8

This vitamin C serum is my absolute favourite skincare product that there is! This helps reduce the appearance of pigmentation and scarring which you will most likely be left with after acne.

Daily Radiance Vitamin C day cream - Medik8

This day cream includes SPF30 in it so it keeps your skin protected from the sun. It also includes vitamin C which helps reduce pigmentation and scarring. This is a perfect hydrating day cream which produces a beautiful radiant healthy glow for the whole day, and is the perfect base for makeup application.

Pure Essence Moisturiser - Clinic Care

This moisturiser is a new favourite of mine, which I have been using on an evening. It has a lovely gel application. This moisturiser has a high concentration of antioxidants to calm, protect and hydrate the skin, along with Hyaluronic Acid to help retain the moisture. This moisturiser also has Witch Hazel in which helps regulate sebum (oil) production, working as an anti inflammatory for acne, whilst reducing redness.

It is so important to find a routine that works for you, and its important to change up your routine with what your skin actually needs at that current time. There are so many factors which affect your skin on a day to day basis, and so giving your skin exactly what it needs corresponds with this.
